Rising on six acres at the foot of the Shivagange hills, near Bengaluru, Sree Shaankara Tapovana is being built by the Sri Sri Sri Adi Shankaraacharya Seva Trust to uphold Sanathana Dharma and carry forward the teachings of Adi Guru Sri Shankaraacharya.
The Sri Sri Sri Adi Shankaraacharya Seva Trust was registered as a charitable trust on 3rd June 2016, with the blessings of the Jagadgurus of Sri Sringeri Sharada Peetam — Paramapujya Sri Sri Sri Bharathi Theertha Mahaswamiji and Paramapujya Sri Sri Sri Vidhushekara Bharathi Mahaswamiji.
Adi Guru Sri Shankaraacharya lived for thirty-two years and dedicated his life to preaching the true essence of the ten Upanishads, the backbone of Sanathana Dharma. Out of a humble desire to serve the Achaarya, the Trust began the project Sree Shaankara Tapovana at Shivagange.

The statue will be seated within the proposed Shankara Bhavana, on a seven-foot peeta on which the names of devotees contributing ₹1 lakh and above will be inscribed.
